The American Dietetic Association Foundation (ADAF) is the world's largest charitable organization devoted exclusively to nutrition and dietetics. ADAF is the philanthropic arm of the American Dietetic Association and 501(c)3 charity. The ADA Foundation focuses on three initiatives: Scholarships, Healthy Weight for Kids and Food & Nutrition Research.

NHDA supports ADAF and  an annual NH scholarship- administered by ADAF in honor of Judith Duffy Clark and Helen Evangeline Gilson and accepts donations year round. At the recent Fall meeting held by NHDA, over $500 was raised through a Silent Auction, Lucky "Ten Buck" Duck  and 50/50 raffles. Thanks to all who contributed  through donation and participation.

Funding
This year the ADA Foundation has:
·    Awarded 226 scholarships totaling over $255,000.
·    Reached $2 million for the Research Endowment and provided $118,000 in research grants.
·    Granted $500,000 through the General Mills Champions® for Healthy Kids Grant Program.
·    Piloted the Healthy Schools Partnership in Kansas City.
·    Provided $53,460 in awards for dietetics professionals.

Leadership
Supporting fundraising activities enables the Foundation to continue its leadership role in:
·    Being the largest provider of scholarships and awards to dietetics professionals.
·    Supporting dietitian-led research through the Research Endowment.
·    Equipping dietetics professionals to help children learn lifelong healthy eating habits.

The NH Food Bank is a center for food collection and distribution in the community. Since 1984, the New Hampshire Food Bank has provided food to qualified nonprofit programs serving the hungry and needy throughout New Hampshire.

Nutrition and Fitness Program

In 2008, the National Dairy Council partnered with the NFL to launch Fuel Up to Play 60, an unprecedented in-school nutrition and fitness program.  Today, with the involvement of supporting organizations, including the American Dietetic Association, Fuel Up to Play 60 reaches 36 million kids in 60,000+ schools! ..continued..
