As part of National Nutrition Month®, the New Hampshire Dietetic Association is looking for registered dietitians, dietetic technicians and dietetic interns to read to children throughout the state. If you’re willing to read a fun, nutrition related book provided by NHDA to children at a story time at a library, please contact Maggie Tipping at tips@comcast.net or 603-753-2809.
Maggie Tipping, a registered dietitian at Concord Hospital, is the coordinator for the statewide initiative. Give her your contact information, the community you live in and the community you work in. Maggie will give you the contact information for a library or day care center in your community.
Once you’ve scheduled your reading engagement, you’ll receive the book to read and donate to the organization you’re reading at. You’ll also receive educational handouts to send home with the children and the nutritional gatekeepers (parents, grandparents and day care providers) who attend with children.
To raise the awareness of the general public about good nutrition and seeking information from qualified professionals such as registered dietitians and dietetic technicians, the media committee of the NHDA will be publicizing the effort and highlighting various reading engagements in the media.
Contact Maggie today and help the next generation learn about healthy eating!
