Program Summary: Share Our Strength’s Operation Frontline is a ground-breaking nutrition education program that helps families at risk for hunger and malnutrition by teaching them how to prepare healthy low-cost meals and receive the most nutrition from a limited budget. Since 1993, the program has utilized the strengths of professional chefs, nutritionists, financial advisors and students in roles as volunteer instructors. Volunteers teach classes for adults, teens and children living on low-incomes. Each class includes hands-on meal preparation led by a chef who teaches participants that cooking healthy foods can be simple, enjoyable, and delicious.
Duties:
· Work independently and as a team with Operation Frontline staff and program throughout internship · Responsible for course coordination within areas of Southern NH and Seacoast: . Includes management of existing host agency relationships and coordination of classes and assembling required materials and volunteers . Responsible for at least 2 courses per week . Estimated 25-30% travel, with potential for mileage reimbursement · Support Volunteer Management Program . Assist program staff in recruitment and training and communication tasks . Assist program staff in developing materials · Enhance and develop Satellite Agency program . Assist staff to facilitate transition of strong partner agencies towards hosting courses more independently · Support program management and evaluation. . Maintain course and volunteer records through multiple outlet . Regular communication with volunteers, community partners and staff

Qualifications: · At least 18 years of age · High school diploma, or GED · Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle · Basic knowledge or interest in nutrition, culinary arts, food insecurity and/or wellness · Excellent public speaking skills · Good computer skills · Excellent written and verbal communications · Ability to respond to planned and ad hoc communication · Ability to relate to diverse populations · Ability to organize and prioritize · Willingness to work on a flexible schedule and travel in Southern NH. · Self starter with desire to learn and grow professionally · Possess deductive reasoning skill and be able to synthesize information for problem solving
Preferences o College Degree or pursuit of degree in nutrition, culinary or related field o Volunteer management experience o Program management or implementation experience
Training Provided: · Training from National Program- Intern will receive basic new staff orientation and training from Share Our Strength’s National Operation Frontline team. Intern will have access to training opportunities including monthly conference calls and webinars. Intern will also be expected complete some self-study training pertaining to program delivery · Training from the NH Food Bank Operation Frontline Program- Intern will receive program specific training from staff including but not limited to: program management, program delivery, education delivery, working with low-income audiences, working effectively with diverse populations. Upon hire, intern will be expected to complete self-evaluation to identify areas in need of strengthening and complete some self-study trainings. Training and performance will be supervised and evaluated by Program Coordinator.
